Hispanic Heritage Month starts September 15th until October 15th every year. It first began as Hispanic Heritage Week in 1968; then, it transitioned into a month-long celebration in 1988. Many Hispanic countries gained their independence on September 15; thus, the celebration starts mid September.
Exploring the culture of so many wonderful countries is a great way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month. Take a Cuban Salsa dance class, go to a Peruvian Restaurant, or attend a Flamenco Dance performance from Spain, are all fun ways to celebrate. Checking out your local community center for family activities is a great option as well. Here is a link to how the Boys & Girls Club of America celebrates.

Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo are famous Mexican Artists from the 1920s. Diego created the industrial murals at the Detroit Institute of Art. While Diego painted murals, Frida became known for painting self-portraits. This famous couple left an amazing archive of art to inspire us all.
