Hydra-Oya Watering System

Tylee Sewell, the former Farm Manager at Gwinnett Technical College, taught me how to use Hydra-Oyas to water my garden. Hydra-Oyas are porous clay pots that Tylee created in the shape of gourds. She said that you bury the pots in your garden, then fill them with water. The roots of the plants in your garden will slowly grow towards the Hydra-Oyas because the water inside seeps through the porous clay. This ancient watering system comes from Northern Africa where people buried giant gourd like pots in desert areas to irrigate their crops. Tylee's Hydra-Oyas worked fabulously in my garden; check out the before and after pics! Yay! Harvest time already!!! Thanks, Tylee!!
