Hidden Figures is a movie that highlights the lives of 3 African American Women who helped NASA with the trajectory calculations to send Apollo 11 to the moon and back. These women, Katherine Goble, Mary Jackson, and Dorothy Vaughn worked for NASA in the early '60s where they experienced both gender inequalities and racial segregation making it challenging to do their jobs. Katherine, a Mathematician, worked as a Human Computer to do calculations for Space Trajectories. Mary, studied to be an Engineer, and eventually worked in NASA's Engineering department. Dorothy taught herself Fortran at night and became the supervisor of the team of African American women who wrote code (Fortran) to program the first computers at NASA. I never knew any of this happened until I watched the movie. These amazing women were definitely Hidden from History. Have you seen the movie Hidden Figures?
